sport freak.
I’ve been a sports freak for most of my life. Here are the teams that I follow in their respective sports:
NFL - Denver Broncos
MLB - Boston Red Sox
NBA - Utah Jazz
MLS - Real Salt Lake
College - Utah Utes
Of all these teams I would say that I have followed the Denver Broncos the most. Not only do I love football but I have really come to appreciate the pro game because they have a playoff system figured out (college football is a different post altogether). I have cheered, screamed, and subsequently lost my voice for the Broncos. When Rachael and I were dating we watched a Broncos/Raiders game and she told me afterward that she didn’t like me when I watched the Broncos. I would get so into the games that it would ruin my day and most of the following week if the Broncos lost.
I’ve noticed over the past couple of years that my intensity in sports watching has diminished. I still very much enjoy watching the Broncos or any of my teams play but it doesn’t get to me like it used to. As I type this post the Broncos are in the midst of a three game losing streak but I enjoyed my weekend and I am smiling at work today in spite of that. It might be a sign of getting older but more likely, I feel that I have begun to grow up in that aspect. I’ll still continue to cheer my teams on and hope that they make it to their respective championship games but maybe I’ll be able to do that without breaking anything.
