who’s your daddy?

On 12/3/10 I became a father.  That short sentence is loaded with responsibility, joy, sleep-deprivation, and a whole lot of love.  My daughter’s name is Anna Grace Patrick and was 6 lbs 13 oz at birth.  Rachael was a champ in labor and delivery and went completely natural (no epidural, and only a few pain shots to take the edge off).  During the 12 hour marathon that is labor and delivery, and even more since then, I have fallen more in love with my wife than I ever thought I could be.

While spending time with my new family, I have changed diapers, stayed up late with a crying baby, sacrificed personal comforts, realized just how selfish I really am, coped with all new levels of stress and responsibility, laughed, cried, and have loved every minute of it!

I wish I could put into print just what I feel and have been thinking about, but I’m not a great writer and could only give you a glimpse.  As a father I have seen a glimpse of how God loves his children unconditionally and how he really wants to provide for us…

So a new life begins. I like it when she calls me Big Poppa.
